Did you know you could get a free beer if you can pronounce Carlsberg correctly?
You could have I you’ve been in Vietnam.
Happiness Saigon, a branch of the FCB network, created a creative campaign in which they wanted to reward those who can correctly pronounce the name of a Danish beer, which was not an easy task in this country.
Carlsberg is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year, and on that occasion, it wanted to strengthen its position in various markets.
The creative agency started from the fact that this famous Danish brand has existed in Vietnam for a long time, but that residents face difficulties trying to pronounce the word Carlsberg correctly. They concluded that the best way to promote a brand is to encourage the target group to repeat its name.
The idea was that people would get a chance to be rewarded and try a beer for free if they pronounced the brand name correctly. An interactive billboard with a phonetically written name was used, which should make reading easier. The artificial intelligence that recognizes the voice is set to register and treat as correct the answers closest to the correct one and to reward those who answered correctly with beer.
If you missed the interactive billboard and you live in Vietnam, you have the opportunity to win your free beer by visiting the website where you need to give the correct answer. Numerous billboards, YouTube pre-rolls, and Spotify ads lead to this site.
Hoàng Vũ Hải, Carlsberg Brand Manager, said that their team members concluded that this is a word that breaks the tongue and that the love for the brand will increase if they deservedly reward everyone who manages to pronounce the word correctly.
