How does it work?
The video can last up to 15 seconds, and in addition to the desired sound from the Instagram database, it will be possible to add various effects. Also, you could record your own Reels that others will be able to use in their own videos if your profile is public.
It will be possible to record hands-free thanks to the timer. You will also be able to slow down or speed up the clips and adjust them to each sound.
In addition to direct recording, Reels offers the ability to insert existing clips, merge and edit them.
If your profile is public, you will easily reach a larger audience that will be able to see these clips in the Explore section, while those with private accounts will share the content with their followers. You’ll have the option to adjust the cover image, description, and information of the video.
Where Reels is located?
You could share your Reels on your feed or your story, using hashtags so that the Instagram community can follow your content by clicking on a hashtag, song, or effect, while with private profiles this will not be possible. The story will function according to its current principle, it will disappear after 24 hours.
The algorithm in the Explore Feed will support the most interesting content, the one that is trending and has gathered the most fans. You can share, comment, and like this content. If your Reels gets to this part of Instagram, you will be notified.
You will also be able to clearly see all your clips on your profile, which will be in the timeline next to the photos and IGTV.
What is the goal of introducing IG Reels?
Instagram believes that the new feature will encourage people to express themselves as creatively as possible, present themselves in the best light, explore what they like, but, above all, have great fun.
In addition, what many of us in the world of marketing are interested in is the hidden goal of launching this feature - the weakening of a growing competitor, TikTok. It remains to be seen whether history will repeat itself and whether Instagram will weaken TikTok, as it did a few years ago with Snapchat by introducing IG stories.
