FCB Inferno and dyslexic thinking as a LinkedIn skill

Blog - Belgrade, 11 May 2022

In addition to the many skills you can list on your business profile, LinkedIn has included a new one - "dyslexic thinking". The campaign, led by Virgin and its founder Richard Branson, pointed out that "dyslexic thinking" was classified as a valuable skill on LinkedIn and added to Dictionary.com as an official term. The campaign was also attended by the humanitarian organization Made by Dyslexia with a creative production provided by FCB Inferno to improve the understanding of neurodivergence that Branson spoke openly about during his lifetime.

Richard Branson pointed out that he was delighted that LinkedIn added "dyslexic thinking" to its list of officially recognized skills. He stressed that this is significant because LinkedIn recognizes this way of thinking as a positive trait. "Dyslexic thinking" is a skill that can give you benefits at work, such as the ability to solve specific problems, great imagination, creative thinking, and communication skills. He said that he was proud to be a dyslexic thinker and redefining dyslexia as a skill gave him the freedom to realize his dreams without obstacles.

The humanitarian organization, in cooperation with ManpowerGroup Talent Solutions, published a report entitled "Dynamic Report on Dyslexia" in which it claims that such skills are vital for modern jobs, which is the result of increased speed thanks to technology and automation.

The "Dyslexic Thinking" campaign included high-profile figures such as Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock and Soho House founder Nick Johnson. They appear in a video campaign and invite people to add this skill to LinkedIn to challenge the re-evaluation of those diagnosed with dyslexia.

LinkedIn's vice president of communications, Nicole Leverich, stated she was proud to be dyslexic and part of this campaign is redefining the meaning of the term dyslexia. In addition, the director of the Dictionary.com editorial board, John Kelly, stated that with the introduction of this term as a skill on LinkedIn, the term itself would spread around the world, and beyond the dyslexic community.
