Chat GPT is a bug in advertising's ear

A specter is circling the planet, a specter named Chat GPT-4. All the forces of the old world united in the hunt against that specter, because this specter came to realize humanity's perennial fear of artificial intelligence and finally take over all jobs, especially for those of us who work in advertising.

What exactly is Chat GPT-4?

It is the latest version of the artificial intelligence (AI) system that powers the chatbot. The company OpenAI, which is responsible for the launch of Chat GPT, says that it is an even more creative, less biased version of its predecessor Chat GPT-3, which attracted a lot of public attention.

Calling it "our most capable and compliant model yet," OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman said the new system is "multimodal," meaning it can accept images and text as inputs.

During the demonstration, the president and one of the founders of OpenAI, Greg Brockman, also gave users a glimpse of what photo recognition capabilities will look like on the new system. This feature, which is still under development, will be called "Be My Eyes" and with its help GPT-4 will be able to analyze and respond to photos submitted to it as a query, answer questions or perform team-based tasks pictures. In a word, GPT-4 becomes, not only a linguistic, but also a visual model that will be able to accept entries containing both images and text.

When all this is taken into account, a red light turns on for many people in advertising, which constantly illuminates the above-mentioned story of fear, specter and artificial intelligence.

Of course, none of this should surprise us because the fear that technology will replace our jobs has been going on for decades. In the mid-1800s, tailors were concerned about the use of sewing machines, while laborers, who shoveled material when ships docked in port, became enraged at the advent of grain elevators, culminating in the early 20th century when laborers, whose whose job was to light lanterns in the streets, they started a strike because of the fear of losing their jobs due to the latest technology: electricity.

There are really a lot of things that technology does better than us - but, believe it or not, it's people who are creative, people design something out of nothing, people are intuitive. Our virtue is that we are curious, that we imagine, fantasize, explore. Chat GPT can give us answers, but answers to our questions. Because it is the people who ask the questions.

Whenever I think about the weather and what it brings, I remember the lines from No Smoking band "The snow is melting, nothing will stop the coming of a new spring" - and spring is still spring!
